These minors were going to become victims of human trafficking, also known as modern slavery. After the trip to India, he decided that the hid public foundation would become a leading voice in denouncing and exposing this modern scourge. The foundation focuses on education, prevention and research, as well as maintaining a presence in international forums and influencing public policy. Today, approximately 45 million people are victims of human trafficking, of which 5.5 million are children. It is the second most lucrative crime in the world, generating $150 billion dollars annually. No country is exempt. The fight to eradicate human trafficking is one of the most pressing problems facing society today and the Ricky Martin Foundation continues its tireless efforts in education about this heinous crime.
Senior Army officials on Thursday made the case that shedding some of the service’s inventory of unneeded facilities by closing installations and consolidating the Army’s activities is the only way to produce significant savings and improve installation support.“If we try to spread declining resources across all 155 installations the Army owns and operates, you are going to get mediocre services everywhere,” Andy Napoli, assistant for BRAC in the office of the assistant secretary for installations, energy and environment, told representatives from veterans service organizations, military service organizations and other nonprofits at a Pentagon summit. “If you can concentrate the resources at a smaller number of installations, you can get better service,” Napoli said. The Army is facing the challenge of maintaining 170 million square feet of underutilized space, a $500 million annual burden.“It costs roughly the same amount of money to heat and cool a building and operate it, whether it has 100 percent occupancy or 50 percent occupancy,” Napoli said, reported the Army News Service. But simply shuttering underutilized facilities won’t generate substantial savings because of the fixed costs associated with operating an installation. Support services — such as garbage collection, road maintenance and military family programs — still must be provided across the installation.“What that really means is that our force structure and our population goes down, unless you are closing an installation and permanently eliminating that requirement, you’re not going to have a lot of opportunity to save money,” Napoli said. And with funding for facilities constrained, savings is critical.“We don’t really get what we say we need,” said Diane Randon, acting assistant chief of staff for installation management. But, she added, “We haven’t gotten the worst we could have gotten.”The Army is coping with funding for facilities restoration and modernization that is “deficient,” Randon said, as is funding for military construction. “It’s at a historic low.” Dan Cohen AUTHOR

He told the police that his parents fight because of his father’s drinking problem, which may have led to the murder.Chandan said that his father developed alcohol addiction after retirement. Gowda would often ask his wife for money to buy alcohol. “On March 14, Manjula refused to pay him money for buying alcohol. The World Test Championship will begin on August 1.ReutersAfter years of deliberation and planning, a premier tournament for the Test format is finally going to see the light of day. The World Test Championship (WTC) officially kicks off with the first Ashes Test that begins on August 1.Basic structureThe WTC will comprise 9 top Test-playing nations, as decided by the ICC Test team rankings on March 31, 2018. Of the 11 Test teams in the world all except Afghanistan and Ireland are taking part. The Championship would last for around two years, culminating with the final, slated to be played in June 2021 in England. The championship won’t be played in a league format as there isn’t enough time in the calendar for any of the nations to play every other team, home and away. As a result, each team is obliged to play three home series and three away series. Which teams they decide to play would depend on the respective cricket boards and their arrangements. The series that would form a part of the WTC can range from two-Test affairs to those containing five games. The two teams that will have the most points at the end of the mandatory six series will get into the final, likely to be played at Lord’s. The Ashes series will be the first tournament under the WTC umbrellaCameron Spencer/Getty ImagesPoints systemsThe points system worked out for this tournament is also very interesting. Every series would provide sides with a chance of winning a maximum of 120 points. For points per match, 120 would be divided by the number of matches in the series. A tie will earn both teams half that number of points while a draw would lead to 1/3 of the points per match being earned by the sides. To illustrate this better, let us take an example. If there is a three-match series between two teams, then, points available for each match would be 120 divided by three, i.e. 40. The winner of a match would get 40 points while a tie would get both teams 20 and a draw 13.Test series outside WTCNot every Test series played in the next two years will be considered part of WTC. Those series involving Afghanistan and Ireland will be outside the scope of the championship. India’s series against West Indies would be their first challenge in WTCIANSBroadcasting rightsSince this tournament would consist of bilateral series played in different Test playing nations, channels and networks holding the rights to telecast cricket in those territories will also telecast matches of this tournament. However, the final, which will be played in England, will be broadcasted by the networks owning rights to ICC tournaments. Will the tournament succeed? The chances of WTC becoming popular are good but not perfect. The biggest aim of ICC is to make sure that every Test series has a context. As of now, there are only a few series, like the Ashes or Border-Gavaskar Trophy, that draw major attention. This league aims to ensure that even a series such as West Indies vs India, otherwise not a high-profile contest, would have a definite context and value. Whether the ordinary fans warm up to it or not remains to be seen.
Curated by Kiran Pundir and Artsaroma, Beanstalk is holding a solo show, titled Flow of Life by artist Nandini Verma. Through her work, Verma, who hails from Chattisgarh traces her roots back to the place, where semi-arid jungles, native tribes, rural rustic villages, industrial suburbs and small towns create a landscape full of colours, culture and life. She says: “This vivid canvas of life kindled my curiosity and drew me into exploration of various arts and crafts to capture it. I started experimenting with various abstractions, while enjoying ethnic and folk painting inspired by the nature and culture of Chhattisgarh. Painting semi-abstract depiction of themes, colours and textures fascinate me the most.” She further adds: “I am actively exploring the interplay of nature and influence of human settlement because this is the most critical issue that I’m confronted with all the time”.
The Virtual Data Room (VDR), a more secure version of conventional cloud storage, is becoming increasingly popular in 2017. This digital system is commonly used to advance online data transactions and corporate exchanges. Its technology allows negotiating parties in a business deal to exchange crucial information more rapidly, regardless of the distance between them.Related: Why Your Business Absolutely Needs a Virtual Data RoomMoreover, due to VDR’s paperless transactions, legal documents can be processed much faster, since there’s no need to look through hard copies, which can be tedious. Manufacturers are further improving on these features by creating advanced access controls and verification protocols that guarantee better security, as well as data privacy. As of April 2016, it was estimated that market revenues for VDR companies were more than $800 million, with annual growth rates for individual companies increasing by double digits. Based on these positive statistics, it’s safe to say that the popularity of virtual data rooms is not going to fade away any time soon.Potential for the futureVDR technology provides many unique advantages and benefits to business deal-makers. For instance, the due diligence and detection requirements associated with corporate transactions make these online data rooms the most ideal solution for discussing corporate deals.Additionally, as IT deployment capabilities and infrastructures continue to grow, so will the number of advanced features that VDR provides to users. This will improve sales, marketing and support standards for companies, as various business processes will be completed much faster. How VDR can improve discoveryVirtual data room technology allows users to share sensitive documents/files in hierarchically organized structures. Furthermore, it allows for the use of digital mechanisms such as semantic tags, instead of crosslink-specific line items and folders.Related: 5 Data Management Challenges Facing Small Business OwnersThe ability to access these crucial digital items makes it easier to provide business partners or a legal team with data, which they can easily search and navigate. Likewise, due diligence may necessitate that certain documents, such as profit/loss statements or compliance histories, be copied or referenced at numerous locations in other data records.Benefits of the VDR boom to entrepreneursMost entrepreneurs prefer VDR to traditional forms of data exchange mainly because it minimizes the risk of information theft by third parties not involved in a transaction. In the past, data-sharing was done mainly via land-based systems, which proved to be quite laborious. It was also inconvenient, as all participants in a deal were required to be physically present for the transaction. However, with the emergence of virtual data rooms, business processes can be completed much faster since most documents can now be shared online. The main reason why this technology is taking over land-based data rooms in 2017 is the convenience it provides to users.VDRs are also commonly equipped with ools that aid in communication, which physical data rooms often lack.Other benefits for entrepreneurs 1. Accessibility from anywhere across the world. Regardless of the time or geographical location of an individual in a transaction, documents can still be shared instantly to any destination around the globe.Similarly, most virtual data rooms are now accessible by mobile applications. This means that businesspeople have the option of using their tablets and mobile phones to continue working, even outside the office space.2. Easy to navigate. VDR data is structured, and its information systems are easy to navigate due to those systems’ highly advanced search options, as well as the filtering options available.3. No space limits. Virtual rooms can accommodate multiple visitors at once without running out of space. There’s no particular order and room users can access the data stored in repositories whenever they want.4. Easy duplication of files. Since files can easily be duplicated on multiple servers, it’s easier to recover information in case data is lost or damaged. Furthermore, since virtual repositories are fitted with advanced and multi-faceted data security systems, no information can be stolen or breached from the system.Related: Why Your Startup Needs to Be Data Mature From the Beginning5. Only a single DVR is necessary. Since VDR visitors can be subdivided into distinct permission groups, virtual room owners can use just a single VDR to perform multiple transactions concurrently. Therefore, they end up saving a lot of time and financial resources. 4 min read Register Now » Attend this free webinar and learn how you can maximize efficiency while getting the most critical things done right.
