Armed Bandits break into Eccles home rob two families

Police are now investigating an alleged robbery under arms committed on a 56-year-old businessman and a 48-year-old assistant manager during the wee hours of Wednesday morning in Eccles, East Bank Demerara.According to information received, the two victims resided at the same Eccles address, but live in different rooms of the two storey concrete structure, with their respective spouses.On Tuesday evening, at about 22:00hrs, the businessman recalled that he secured the home and retired to bed.However, at 02:15hrs the following day, the man said he woke to use the washroom and as he stepped out of his bedroom, he was confronted by five men- three of whom were armed with guns.The suspects reportedly grabbed on to the victim and his wife, who was still sleeping at the time.Two of the men then moved over to the room shared by the Assistant Manager and her spouse, woke them from their sleep, and carried both persons into the businessman’s room.The assailants then used paper tape and cloth to tie their victims’ hands and feet, before demanding that they turn over their cash and valuables.INews understands that after collecting the items of value, the men proceeded to ransack the entire house.After some time had passed, the bandits then fled the scene, leaving their victims bounded.The businessman, however, managed to free himself and the others.A report was immediately made to police and inspection of the building revealed that the perpetrators may have gained entry into the home through a window which is located on the lower flat and leads to the washroom.The said window was reportedly removed.Moreover, according to police, while the premises has CCTV footage, the bandits fled the scene with the DVR in their possession.The businessman was reportedly robbed of $500,000 in cash, one Iphone 7, one Samsung Galaxy J3, and a bunch of house keys, while the assistant manager was robbed of gold bands valued at $200,000, one hand bag, one Blu mobile phone, one credit card, GYD$7,000 and US$300.
